Bird gathering changes

Following a qualitative risk assessment on bird fairs, shows, markets, sales and other gatherings, and a separate one on pigeon racing. Defra, Scottish Government and Welsh Government are from today allowing low risk bird gatherings to occur subject to certain conditions.

Gatherings of aviary birds, birds of prey and pigeons is now allowed. Pigeon racing is also allowed, provided it is not from mainland Europe. 

Gatherings of poultry, including Anseriformes (ducks and geese) and Galliformes (Turkeys, pheasants, chickens, guineafowl) are not allowed, although this will be kept under review.
